We went outside in the Fog. This is what we wrote.

Outside in the fog I saw two brown adult ducks waggling their bottoms. Sand was everywhere. Freezing day. I smelt dirt and mud. It was cold.
Kayley.

Fog like ghosts. Brrrrr ...  I'm freezing. The grass had dew. It is hard to see in the fog. It looks like roasted steam.
Sachiel.

Brrrrr I'm freezing, grey fog makes my back shiver. I felt trapped in the thick fog.
Emily.

Misty and mysterious, looks like steam. Impossible to see in the distance. I had an awful and terrible fright. I thought I could run away.
Archie.

The fog was as freezing as an ice berg. The fence had dew on it, round like cannon balls.
Keagan.

We have just started Rhythmic gymnastics
Look at us ... so professional looking
                                                  Concentration
                                                     Some of us are "naturals"
"this is fun"                    "I can do this"
Hoops behind the back, use your wrist to turn the hoop.

Electricity- it's a buzz!!!

We found out about how to connect an electrical circuit in order to make lights and funny sound effects. Each circuit needed wires, a cell (battery) and a number of components, e.g. bulbs, LEDs, resistors. The circuits needed to be closed for the electricity to flow. Here are some photos of us connecting electrical circuits.

ROAD SAFETY with RONALD MacDONALD
TRAVELWISE WEEK
Year one & year two learn about how to be safe  walking on the footpath and crossing roads
He came to teach us about road safety... he shook his bottom. JV
He wiggled his bum at us and he pulled his pants up at us too. LI
Ronald MacDonald was magic. He kept saying "banana" when we said, "Whose there?"  KE
I thought he was funnier than I thought it was going be. I truly laughed my head off. He kept tricking us with his funny jokes. EM
I felt delighted he couldn't find his sock. FZ
I could not stop laughing even when we walked back to class. I think its a good idea to help children learn about road safety. BC
I felt giggly because he was funny. I thought he was a girl but he wasn't, he was a boy.I thought he was trying to take care of us because he told us about road safety. OC
Ronald MacDonald strolled through the door. He was acting crazy and silly. I thought he was funny because he used magic in his show. ZM

Jerome Kaino and the helicopter!

We had a very exciting day at UHPS on Wednesday. A bright red Wespac rescue helicopter landed on our school field and Jerome Kaino (aka All Black) stepped out to screaming UHPS children!

Here are some photos and recounts of the event.

If someone is saying putdowns, tell them to stop! Maddy, Room 19
I helped Mr Elmer by telling him the time, Tom C, Room 20-

In my family
I helped by taking the dog for a walk, and helped mum with dinner by setting the table before dinner- Tyler P, Room 19
I helped my parents by looking after my sister and brother- Dana S, Room 19
I made breakfast for mum on Mother's day- Zion, Room 19
I helped mum after school, even though I wanted to watch TV- Ethan, Room 20

In our fireflies community
I helped clean up the awhina space- Logan K, Room 19
I was careful around younger kids when the 8:30 bell rang- not pushing, Dayna C, Room 19
I comforted another person in the team who has been called a name- Olivia K, Room 20
I helped a younger student in the team without being too bossy- Sairaj L, Room 19
